ABSTRACT
It is one thing to recognize that the sciences, for all their remarkable contributions, do not hold all the answers, but it is quite another to live out this recognition in our professional and personal lives. Though politicians and bureaucrats might pay lip service to the creative arts, our society has become so biased towards technoscientific ways of thinking that any substantive commitment to supporting and paying meaningful attention to the arts is thwarted from the outset.
