ABSTRACT

Creativity is a process of discovery, surprise and realization in which inner thoughts and ideas become transformed into some kind of discernible expression. Once ‘out there’, this expression can be scrutinized and, perhaps, modified. Such filtering, focussing and clarifying can be an important part of creative development. Similarly, reflecting on a created work may lead to new thoughts and ideas that may prompt further explorations. Hence, there is a two-way exchange – inner informs outer and outer informs inner. At its best, however, the creative process is one where inner and outer are indivisible.
