ABSTRACT

A final challenge confronting senior-level managers is how to scale any innovative momentum that is developed. More importantly, they need to accelerate that momentum so the innovative pace continues. There are two major aspects of this challenge: the role of managers and the role of the organization. Organizations pursuing corporate entrepreneurship strategies likely exhibit a cascading yet integrated set of entrepreneurial actions at the senior, middle, and first levels of management. Managers across levels are jointly responsible for their organization’s entrepreneurial actions. The dynamic entrepreneurial organizations of this twenty-first century will be ones that are capable of merging strategic action with entrepreneurial action on an ongoing basis. Leaders cannot simply send an edict to the organizational members that entrepreneurial activity and innovations are to take place. To establish an entrepreneurial mindset, organizations need to provide the freedom and encouragement required for employees to develop their ideas.
