ABSTRACT

Once children are helping each other then the class can explore the best ways in which they can help each other. The feelings of helping and being asked for help can also be explored. Helping in the academic subjects in the classroom can then be discussed. As children get more experienced at giving feedback the same structures can be used to give a balance of both negative and positive feedback to children, helping them to move away from unhelpful or negative behaviours. For children with special needs it is vitally important that teachers utilise all of the children's abilities to enhance and ensure motivation, interest and learning. Children with special needs are often being helped in one way or another. There are times when those children may want to try for themselves and they are helped before they would wish.
