ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book provides the assessment of the drivers and nature of the United Kingdom's (UK) engagement and their implications for security sector governance in Nepal. It examines the drivers and nature of India's engagement and the implications of these, for security sector governance in Nepal. The book analyzes the drivers and nature of China's engagement and its implications for security sector governance in Nepal. It also examines the interactions between China, India and the UK, contrasting their approaches and assessing the implications for peacebuilding and post-war recovery in Nepal. Regional Security Complex (RSC) and democratic peace have shaped the theoretical contours. The evolving structure of the South Asian RSC influenced the duration and intensity of Nepal's civil war. The analytical lens is pertained to the ideas of security sector reform and the security–development nexus.
