ABSTRACT
In previous chapters, we applied the techniques of statistical inference to continuous or measured data. In particular, we investigated the properties of population means and, in the case of nonparametric methods, medians. We now extend the methodology of statistical inference to include enumerated data, or counts. The basic underlying principles remain the same, and the normal distribution again plays a key role.
