ABSTRACT

You and your colleague are treating a 26-year-old American male student at the local halls of residence. The patient is unresponsive, bradycardic with a weak radial pulse and bradypnoeic. According to his flatmates he has been telling them about some white powder he brought back from the USA when he came back to the UK to continue his studies. They are not certain of the name, but say it may have been fentanyl.
