Introduction

Northeast India comprises diverse ethnic, cultural, linguistic and racial groups but is often looked at as a homogenous entity ridden with conflicts. Against this backdrop, the present reader makes an attempt to give a nuanced reading of the region with a sense of ‘concern’. It takes cognizance of a ‘core’ that compels one to accept that understanding Northeast India is an ethical challenge.
