ABSTRACT

The role of the cyber-nurse case manager (CNCM), the case management practices he or she will use, and the subject matter expertise needed to perform that function, will all significantly change as cloud-based technology saturates healthcare. Case management can be carried out by individual providers or by a series of providers acting in collaboration to support the needs of the patient. The Case Management Society of America is a professional association that supports the ongoing practice standards for case management. The CNCM should anticipate ongoing updates on how the market will be managed during the global integration of cyber-health delivery and/or the coordination of services. Practice standards may be found within professional organization such as Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and other technology-based professional organizations. Financial case management deals with issues such as payer denials, inappropriate discounts, missed charges, late charges, and write-offs, these can cause revenue loss, which hurts the healthcare provider’s performance.
