ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the principles of data strategy, analytics, and informatics considerations in a cyber-environment. The healthcare infomediary specialist (IS) is a data and information expert. A skilled IS starts with an aggregation of data, which is created via an effective data strategy, then analyzes the organized data. Informatics allows him or her to extract useful information, which subsequently enhances case evaluations. The chapter presents a data readiness assessment methodology, appropriate to consider in assessing a patient’s ability to receive and manage their ongoing health information. The IS will also need to develop skills in evaluating the quality, sufficiency, and integrity of the data being collected and used for analytics. Increasing levels of digital information and sophisticated analytics are radically changing the world of business. The practice principles on data strategy, analytics, and informatics will enhance the IS work product.
