ABSTRACT

One particularly nasty manifestation of the inner voice is the tribal shadow manipulator. This is a person who instinctively understands and encourages tribal behaviours in their team. The command voice is the responsible use of leadership power to achieve reliable results and deliver disciplined performance. The command voice is not a slave to the tribal shadow – quite the opposite. It is the voice that takes up its power and exercises it judiciously in the service of long-term goals. Pre-cog leadership was built on one-to-one relationships. All the differential voices are demonstrations of leadership power, but with command voice it is more explicit. It follows that the tribal shadow, the inner voice that is triggered by power dynamics, will be significant. A leader with a strong command voice uses their command voice to get the people with the right capability matched to the roles required by the challenges.
