An exploration of leadership through social identity is incomplete without exploring the dark side. There is a dark side to the differential voice. Strong and effective leadership can be used for evil as well as for good. The differential voice approach to large-scale change is through the prosocial and futurizing voice. Both are founded on creating and shaping social identity. An exploration of leadership through social identity is incomplete without exploring the dark side. The prosocial voice takes tribes and delivers communes. A tribe is exclusive; a commune is welcoming to a large audience and inclusive to all. The leader can end up being perceived as a high performer. Conversely, the antisocial manipulator overwhelmingly focuses on "them". This is a leader who understands the power of playing on people's fears. Most observers picked that Kim Jong-un's uncle, Kim Jong-thaek, would take the leadership position. His objective is to build his power as leader of North Korea.
