ABSTRACT

How is that inner voice of yours going? Maybe you are sceptical?

Too right, I’m sceptical. The world I inhabit as a leader is light years away from the world inhabited by the cogs. Society has moved on. We have moved on. And besides, I’m pretty sure that there are no pre-cogs inside my head.

The previous chapters laid out the evidence for the discrete ways that society functioned before, during, and after the cognitive revolution. Because of the different mechanisms that held the increasingly large group sizes together, we have come to understand the different leadership styles that predominated: heartfelt and command voice for pre-cogs, prosocial voice for intra-cogs, and futurizing voice for post-cogs. We have also seen how the later leadership voices did not obliterate the previous ones.
