ABSTRACT

In general, a fundraising solicitation is the quickest and easiest way to raise money for ballot items, but it requires a good list and clerical team. Early money is a way to communicate to the public that a cause or candidate has the necessary support to pull off a win. The urgency to raise money for media buys changes with each election cycle and is influenced by other races on the ballot that may be competing for media time. Some will have budgets with predicted and actual money spent. While direct mail can help create a relationship between campaign and the voter, it is also an opportunity to raise money where those relationships are established. In a direct-mail fundraising piece, include only a targeted letter and a remittance envelope. Special events are campaign-sponsored activities intended to raise money and support for the campaign.
