ABSTRACT

The introduction of post-production was truly a revolution in the history of film and filmmaking, as the installation of a system that has proved crucial to filmmaking evolution. With filmmaking post-production, practitioners can, in theory, utilize endless assets and elements over time to create their final product, manipulating the material as technique and technology allows, resulting in a standardized form. The implantation of the system during the transition from the silent era to the sound era asks one to reconsider the art of film as a creature of post-production, its invisible creator. This viewpoint emerges from own practical background, one that is increasingly shared. Due to the availability of the technology of filmmaking, today many of us become de facto filmmakers. Successfully editing an actual film print on a flatbed usually required extensive experience. In addition, many filmmakers needed to rent this equipment due to its expense.
