ABSTRACT

Morning Meeting takes place in a converted loft over the outbuildings of the original Raddery House. An external wooden staircase has been built on to give direct and exclusive access from outside to a warm, carpeted room beneath the beams. As a therapeutic community, Raddery has many different kinds of meetings for different purposes. Apart from the hay-loft in North Wales, the lay-out of the Raddery Meeting Room owes much to a room called the Sanctuary at the Findhorn Foundation Community near Forres. The first 'complexity' to be introduced to the Raddery community was the opening of a 'half-way' house in October 1983. It is an ordinary, large old house, called Strathallan on the outskirts of the small town of Fortrose, about three miles from the school. Professional teamwork within the community of Raddery is structured around teams, team-leaders and others who are called 'envelopers'. The 'envelopers' comprise the team leaders, together with other key senior staff.
