ABSTRACT

Education and public awareness are important to the resolution of social problems, even if they are not the only ameliorating action. History indicates that prostitution can only be addressed through individual action. Other actions included in this category are interpersonal interaction, apology, and reparation. This chapter discuses the down into two areas—the problem of global warming, which includes pollution, and the problem of depletion of natural resources, or rather, the preserving of natural resources. One of the factors in global warming is air pollution. Burning of wood and fossil fuels, including oil for cars, coal and natural gas for producing electricity and manufactured goods, is the major cause of air pollution. The story is not as positive for water pollution, however. Reducing power plant air pollution has resulted in more water pollution. Power plants use water to trap pollutants and have subsequently become the biggest producers of toxic waste in lakes, rivers, and landfills.
