ABSTRACT

In this chapter we study the notions of measure and of sets of “content” zero. These concepts are essential to measure the level sets of the new class of functions to be integrated and in the characterization of Riemann- Stieltjes integrable functions. A successful approach to these problems requires that we operate freely with sets, including taking limits. This we achieve with the introduction of algebras and σ-algebras of sets.
