ABSTRACT

An interesting question answered by Fritzsch and Murray Gell-Mann is how the scaling results of the "partons as quarks" can be stated in a way which – at the end – does not involve quark wave functions or operators at all. In this chapter, the authors shows that the light cone singularities are like those for free quark commutators. Naturally every result of the complete theory is also a result of the "parton as quark" theory for the latter is a model of the former; but not every parton result can be derived from an equation. It is possible, therefore, that many of them are wrong and only in a equation and not the complete field model may survive. Therefore it is interesting to compare the theories for various types of predictions made by the parton as quarks theory.
