ABSTRACT

Now when your forces and the enemy are maintaining fortified positions in a standoff, with victory and defeat still undecided, whoever has provisions will be victorious. Accordingly, you must vigorously augment the protective measures for our own supply lines, fearing the enemy's troops might seize your provisions. Moreover, you should dispatch elite troops to sever the 89enemy's supply routes. Then, since the enemy lacks provisions, his troops must withdraw and an assault on them will produce victory. A tactical principle from the Art of War states: "An army without provisions and foodstuffs is lost."
