ABSTRACT
Whenever engaging an enemy in battle—whether on level or precipitous terrain, whether the road is circuitous or straight—you must employ local people to guide the army. Only then will you know the advantages of terrain and be victorious in combat. A tactical principle from the Art of War states: "One who does not employ local guides will not be able to secure advantages of terrain."
