ABSTRACT

Whenever suffering a defeat after engaging an enemy in battle, you must not become fearful but should instead ponder the potential advantages within the harm that has befallen you. If you order your forces, sharpen your weapons, and incite your officers and troops, awaiting the moment when the enemy grows negligent and lax to suddenly attack them, you will be victorious. A tactical principle from the Art of War states: "If one reacts to harm, calamities can be resolved."
