ABSTRACT
Whenever you engage in pitched assaults with an enemy, if for no apparent reason they should withdraw, you must carefully investigate it. If their strength is really exhausted and their spirit spent, you can select elite, fierce cavalrymen to pursue them closely. If they are truly a retreating army, you should not obstruct them. A tactical principle from the Art of War states: "Do not obstruct an army retreating homeward."
