ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author provides an outcome of some reflections on his experience of what is generally referred to as the "men's movement". He also provides the outcome of some reflections on the situation that men are finding themselves in as they increasingly observe the very negative effects of the dominant men's culture, and as women's protest of this culture becomes more generally effective and pertinent to men. The chapter talks about the predicament in which men are finding themselves as they attempt to respond to these observations and to women's protest. He proposes that this predicament is the result of the terms of reference that inform the attempts of many men to bring about some transformation of the dominant men's culture. The author suggests alternative terms of reference for men's work in the transformation of the dominant men's culture, and includes some exercises that are intended to assist men to explore the real effects of these.
