ABSTRACT
Following is a list of books and articles for further reading. This list is eclectic and includes interpretations that do not agree among themselves or with my arguments. There is, however, an essential similarity: They are all worth looking at. In addition, I have emphasized works that are likely to be available in U.S. libraries and bookstores. The bibliography begins with some background works, including general histories of Central America, and after that it is organized along the lines of the chapters of this book.
