To describe the various institutional responses to family violence
To detail the role that health-care providers—emergency room staff, pediatricians, family physicians—play in responding to family violence
To detail the role that shelters and other social service agencies play in responding to family violence
To detail the role that intervention programs play in responding to family violence
To examine the ways in which the criminal justice system responds to family violence
To examine the ways in which the criminal justice system may increase the probability of intimate partner violence
To provide policy recommendations to improve our institutional response to family violence
