ABSTRACT

Many peoples of the world are embarrassed to talk about sex. A Denver Post column described a vigorous publicity campaign in Uganda of billboards, TV ads, and clinic pamphlets to get parents to talk about sex with their kids. Sexuality is a human potential that is part of our birthright, a unique sensual part that grows through education and life experience. As with spirituality or the love of music, the seeds of sexuality are there in all of us, but they need positive nurturance. Pharmaceutical companies are happy to exploit people suffering from limited sex education and histories of shame and embarrassment. Inflated promises are what the ever-growing Madison Avenue part of their companies is all about. Viagra is not selling anywhere near as well in Germany or the Netherlands or other countries where there are less conservative sexual politics and more sex education.
