ABSTRACT

For most people, denning seductive attire appears to be extremely easy; clothing that arouses sexual desire is seductive. Seductive images are designed to elicit interest in further communication and interaction, are "homemade," and can be found in family gatherings and snapshots. The basic and most important category of seductive attire consists of alluring images designated by Christian thinkers. Western European women developed styles of attire that remained within the bounds of modesty while simultaneously enhancing their physical appeal. The requirement that women keep their heads and bodies covered to signal their modesty had several unintended consequences. Male sexuality and eroticism for the most part were obscured by clothing representing masculine power. There were instances, however, where male dress alluded to sexuality and was deemed seductive. On the pages of Playboy eroticism and sexuality were integrated. The cool pose consists of a variety of behaviors, several of which entail the seduction of women.
