ABSTRACT
Problems of translation from one language to another and from one set of cultural conventions to another can lead to misunderstanding and confusion as profound as the male senators' not "getting it" during the Hill Thomas trial. In a certain senses, it is true that language is a tool for communicating. Language also to a degree predetermines how perceive and think. It brings a set of verbal categories that guides us in forming our sentiments, desires, ideas, and opinions. The idea that language presupposes us to interpret our world in a particular way alerts us to the possibility that our experience of reality could always have been something other than what it is. Human interrelations according to the situation can take priority over clear and precise language use.
