ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book. The book deals with some of the most significant ethical issues facing coaches. It also explores the role of the coach and the duties, responsibilities, and even ideals that apply to coaching behavior, in both ethics and law. In particular, the chapter discusses the reasoning that may be used to support different positions on the issues being examined and so provides an analytical as well as a moral perspective on the role of the coach and the practice of coaching. The role and moral duties of the coach not only change significantly from one context to another but arguably from one cultural context to another.
