ABSTRACT

The religious diversity of the present time has provided an occasion of feasting called the New Age. The New Age is expressive of plenum as well as planet. It refers to extravaganza, the superabundance of wisdom, insight, and communication that are part of the fullness of things that the planet represents. The New Age is symbolic of the effort to transform diversity into pluralism. When New Age proponents gather in their non-organizational communities, they are manifesting the tension between the traditional and the modern. The New Age vision of divine immanence and unity of all being is itself one way of perceiving reality. If the New Age is characterized by a concern for non-organizational organizations and a devotion to universalism and monism, it is led by these convictions into a fascination with the deathlessness of conscious energy.
