ABSTRACT

This chapter shows Mexico Database Project as developing methodology for additional developmental and world system case studies. It explains that data available for Mexico is superior to that of most countries, especially those at a lower level of development. The chapter elucidates information sources and analytical techniques. It includes the various methodological techniques: descriptive statistical analysis, cluster statistical analysis, spatial analyses. The geographic information systems (GIS) analysis work illustrates the utility of such approach in exploring and understanding the globalization of the Mexican economy. The GIS is suitable for many purposes: computerized information to produce maps and statistical analyses for policy makers and businesses; and other academic studies; for a variety of demographic, economic, and environmental research projects. It also includes: incorporation into a database with additional variables as they become available; a variety of useful research and teaching activities in different disciplines, and for longitudinal analyses as data becomes available.
