ABSTRACT
The majority of families living below the poverty level are headed by women. Women are used as medical guinea pigs, subjected time after time to untested drugs and procedures. When abortions are performed for sex selection purposes—and they are performed for that reason—it is female fetuses that are killed. When pro-choice rhetoricians claim that abortion decisions are never taken lightly but are usually anguished, they speak the truth, but with forked tongues. Surveys by pro-choice writers of women who had had abortions reveal that the vast majority did not want to abort, but when they turned to those they counted on for support in this difficult time, they were met instead with unbearable pressure. Feminists for Life stands for a different vision, a society where women are valued and where their power to give and nurture life is valued. As long as abortion exists as a cheap and easy solution, this society will remain a dream.
