ABSTRACT

Charles Flanagan, a solicitor, is the son of the famous Oliver J. Flanagan, TD from 1943 to 1987 for Fine Gael and others. Charles Flanagan was first elected in 1987 and was Fine Gael chief whip in 1990-1992 and a member of FG’s front bench in 1992–1994. Though perhaps unlucky in not getting a ministry in 1994, he was chair of the Dáil’s Committee on Legislation and Security.
