ABSTRACT

I was extraordinarily fa t igued, ha d m o o d changes and bizarre tempera ture fluctuations, los t considerable weight , and was simply o u t o f it, as i f with de ­ ment ia . M y interest in A I D S and G M H C , therefore, was m o r e than academic or even altruistic. Given m y A I D S s y m p t o m s , s taying abreast o f deve lopments and news was central t o m y o w n survival, even t h o u g h I bel ieved, for n o ap­ parent reason , that I d id n o t have A I D S . U n a w a r e s , I was living the life o f a PWA, literally " t ak ing the role o f the o the r . "
