ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the existence of special provisions for deviant pupils in the secondary school. The combined information from Burleigh high and Emery Centre points specifically to two problems: low academic performance and poor social skills. Burleigh high group A pupils, despite presenting an initial strong impression of deviant behaviour backed by a coherent philosophy, proved to have retained some faith in the value of school and to be seriously interested in staying there. Burleigh high group B pupils were shown to lack the degree of sophistication and to be relatively confused about their aims in school. The pupils of the Emery Centre group C appeared to equal in sophistication and clarity of aims Burleigh high group A pupils. The pupils of emery centre group D, like those of Burleigh high group B, appeared to have difficulty in clearly defining and achieving their aims in school.
