ABSTRACT
A community organization is a rare social formation because it requires a sensitized awareness, or an extra-sensory perception that such a macro-level of reality exists. A sense of community obviously springs from meaningful interactions, although it cannot be reduced down to their sums or their differences. The strict enforcement of this taboo on male immigration to another community curbs male mobility, but it serves the collective good by anchoring a community with cohorts of lifetime local males. Adult male-female ties are weak, in part because of promiscuous mating and because mothers are occupied full-time with their dependent offspring. The primatologists who first claimed that chimpanzees had no social organization gradually detected a social synergy and its emergent effects—even though they had no evidence of it. Located in neocortical tissue, the auditory modality in Old World monkeys, apes, and humans has receptors for both high and low frequencies.
