ABSTRACT

This chapter elicits the simulated annealing algorithm and its application in textile manufacturing. It then goes on to explain the main operations involved in simulated annealing. A step-by-step working principle of simulated annealing is elucidated by way of an optimization problem along with its MATLAB coding. Some applications of simulated annealing in textiles are discussed. A moderately detailed outline of the author's research findings on the application of simulated annealing in yarn engineering has also been incorporated.
