ABSTRACT

This chapter includes various linear programming (LP) problem approaches to obtaining optimal solutions in the manufacturing process. Formulation of an LP problem is discussed, with suitable examples related to textile manufacturing. Two popular approaches, viz., graphical and simplex methods, are discussed in detail. Examples related to optimization of the textile manufacturing process using both graphical and simplex methods are presented. There is also a brief discussion of the application of LP methods used by researchers in solving various optimization problems in textiles.
