ABSTRACT

A culture of appreciation builds on this recognition with a focus on instilling trust, teamwork, and a respect for the individual contributions of the classroom teacher. As Chester Elton explains, everyone needs to be appreciated and everyone likes to be recognized for a job well done. Elton observed that when a manager has created a culture where even the dishwasher is happy. As he says, "If the dish washer is happy, then everyone is happy." So, when people think about appreciation, think about not only teachers but students entire staff, and create a true culture of appreciation throughout the building. Appreciation is shown through building a relationship based on trust, respect, and open communication. The same is true of appreciating teachers. It's not a one-time deal but something student do on a consistent basis. Appreciation is about valuing student faculty, and it is an expression of admiration or gratitude.
