ABSTRACT

The key to having a strong Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) program of any size or shape is administrative buy-in and support. Families are a great resource for any STEAM program. Having family buy-in to the STEAM program can make it more appealing to administration, and can also help sustain the program over the long term. A great way to introduce families to the STEAM program and to start gathering information about volunteers and resources is to host a Family STEAM Night. Families and community members were invited and had a chance to experience the STEAM program first hand and ask any questions they may have had. Community involvement can really help launch and sustain STEAM program. There are many ways to get community members beyond families involved. In Meredith's current school, community involvement plays an even larger role.
