ABSTRACT

Live music has come a long way. This is partly due to the rise in ticket prices, partly due to larger venues, and perhaps because more people are seeing live music. Different people undertake different roles within the live music industry. These roles are essential to the efficient operation of live performance. The six main roles of the live music industry are the producer, the performers, the manager, the agent, the promoter, and the venue. However, there are myriad other essential personnel, such as the producer, songwriters, arrangers, backline, festivals, music industry organisations, and the like. Historically, the music producer was the person who oversaw the production of a record. Now they also work in the live music industry. The music producer combines the theatrical and film role of director and producer. Agents are completely involved in the live music industry.
