ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book offers examples of good practice, whether this relates to the therapy approach, the methods of assessment, or the responsivity considerations. It shows the value of a multidisciplinary team approach to the assessment and treatment of a patient, as well as their longer-term assessment by a team who understood the client’s difficulties. The book highlights the importance of adhering to a complex range of interplaying responsivity needs to maximise treatment gains for the client. It discusses sexual deviancy, personality disorder, neurodevelopmental disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, sexual sadism, and trauma within a range of settings, including the community, prison, and psychiatric hospitals. The book provides a set of case studies which would offer the reader an insight into the idiosyncratic nature of the assessment, formulation, and treatment of a range of service users from a breadth of forensic settings.
