ABSTRACT

For buildings with large space like high-speed railway stations in China, the energy consumption is much higher than ordinary public buildings. This research tries to explore energy-saving potential of large space public buildings based on Building Information Modelling (BIM) by a case study of the Tianjin West Railway Station. Compared to the original design, the optimized design adopts energy-saving strategies and has a good effect on the energy saving and emissions reduction according to the results. In the case study, BIM provides a technical platform for visualization, high quality, coordination and building performance simulation. As the main BIM tool, Revit and DesignBuilder are used to realize the whole process of 3D modelling and energy simulation. The research has great reference value to the energy-saving design of high-speed railway station and other large space public building in cold regions supported by BIM technology.
