ABSTRACT

The chapter explains how electoral politics reflected the upper hand of the regional parties in the state that veered around the local issues. Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) emerged as the prominent contender in Telangana. Though the BJP helped in strengthening the hold of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Seemandhra, but in Telangana the ‘Modi factor’ did not work and the BJP won mainly in Hyderabad city and surrounding areas.
