ABSTRACT

Creating a high-level plan defines intent especially when people are encouraged to take on roles that are necessary for the Lean Information Technology (IT) transformation to succeed. One of the preconditions to starting a Lean IT transformation is the existence of a so-called change story. A change story must describe the motivation behind the desire to change, giving people a sense of urgency. Change stories evolve over time, but they tend to start in a change story workshop in which the managers discuss their specific reasons for starting the Lean IT transformation. The basic change story is one that a management team should develop together. In defining the reason for the transformation, management is able to create a common statement that they can all use in their individual change stories. A change story is written by leaders with their team members in mind. A change story must be compelling to the audience.
