ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the transformation from both the leader’s and the team’s perspective. It also looks at the eight weeks of the implementation phase of the team transformation from the coach’s perspective. These eight weeks focus on implementing the improvements identified, raising the level of performance of the team and embedding the rituals into the team’s behavior so that they become habits. Leaders tend to see the Lean Information Technology (IT) coaches as extensions of themselves especially when it comes to the difficult work of getting people to act differently. In many transformations, leaders push their responsibility of ensuring behavior evolves in the right direction onto the coach. One thing for everyone to remember is that a Lean IT coach will certainly not tolerate people continuing to work in the old way. The coach will ask questions to challenge the thinking and acting in the right direction.
