ABSTRACT
The next phase in digital entrepreneurship is to prototype a digital business design. Chapter 4 begins the process of creating a sophisticated web prototype using freely available software and inexpensive internet technology. While digital platforms owned by other companies offer a convenient way to share business content and attract customers, there are advantages to owning and controlling an online presence when starting a new venture. Finding a domain name that is effective and available is the first challenge. Many service providers offer inexpensive and powerful web hosting services that make it easy to publish either simple web pages or software-based prototypes that can be used for real business applications. By the end of this chapter, the reader should be able to create simple web pages and the beginning of (for now, empty) prototype sites and make them available through a purchased domain name.
