ABSTRACT

In the United States, the campaign against Big Pharma focused exclusively on the doctor. Pharmaceutical companies employ representatives to visit care practitioners in the hospital and try to “educate and show the product.” Pharmaceutical companies can collect information about prescriptions in counties, towns filled in a given community. Pharmaceutical companies have been focusing on targeting medical schools, and a policy has therefore been made to restrict the influence of Big Pharma in medical schools. It is true that pharmaceutical companies invest a tremendous amount of money in research, development, and marketing. Doctors, scientists, research organizations, medical journals, teaching hospitals, universities, and medical schools have all exhibited a disturbing conflict of interest with respect to Big Pharma. The UK is the third largest direct exporter of pharmaceuticals. Healthcare in the UK deserves considerable praise for its open criticism of the UK government and the European market, both of which are starting to believe that the trade imperative and priorities are inseparable.
