ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to provide an answer to the reader’s query, What parenting style is most suitable for my child? Five of the prevalent theories and models that underpin the measurement of Eastern and Western parenting styles are mentioned first. Then come common measurements used in parenting research. A list of the varied measurements of parenting outcomes is added thereafter, particularly concerning academic achievement of children. Finally, there is a table for assessing one’s parenting style. A word of caution is added in the conclusion regarding the use of the table by parents.
